The Broan QP230SS (after quite a bit of research) turned out to be an excellent choice for us. I was impressed with the low noise of the fan, even on high. Installation was a bit of a challenge. If you're handy and have the proper tools you should have no problem. Our fan is exhausted on an outside wall. The exhaust port and the power outlet were already there from the prior microwave oven mount so it was just a matter of connecting the new hood to them. Be advised that the hood's 5 mounting screws are only 3/4" long. I replaced them with slightly longer screws as the bottom of the cabinet was recessed 1" and needed to be furred out.
We saved over $100 by purchasing this through Amazon. I had several questions on installation and received prompt answers by calling Broan's customer service number. We have no hesitation in recommending this product if you're venting it outside. I'm sure it would be quite a bit noisier if it was vented inside.
