Weston 08-2201-W Number 22 Commercial Meat Grinder, 1 HP Review

Ok, I was skeptical that paying this much for a grinder was going to make that much difference. I make homemade cat food, so I really didn't want to pay for a semi-commercial grinder just for my cats, no matter how much I love them. So, I bought a $80 grinder to begin with, and it worked for a few months. It would get stuck on some bones, didn't like tendons, and really hated the cartilage from joints. It just wasn't strong enough to cut through it, so there was a lot of forward and reverse to finish the grind. The feed tube was small as well, so I had a lot if prep work to get the chicken into the grinder.
NONE of this was an issue for the Weston 22! What took me 6 hours to grind on my smaller machine was 15 minutes on the Weston. I didn't even have to cut up the chicken leg quarters. As long as it fit down the tube, the Weston ground it up. I didn't even use the reverse switch once.
Honestly, I wish I had just sucked it up and paid for this one to begin with. It would have saved me time, which in the long run is saving money. Plus, the difference in the materials is huge. The grinder plate on the smaller machines was about 1/16" thick. This one was about 1/4" thick. Everything weighs a lot (the box it comes in is actually labelled "Team Lift") but that weight comes from the metal used in its construction. I think this is the last grinder I will ever need to buy!

Dyson DC23 Animal Vacuum Cleaner Review

First, you need to understand that there are several models for the DC23 series. As of Oct 2010, there are the Turbohead, Animal and Motorhead. The canister for all 3 models are technically the same (minus the color). The differences between the 3 models are the accessories (e.g. length of hose, tools, handle, etc) that come with each, and how each machine can be stored away.

For a quick rundown of the differences, it is best to refer to dyson's online store and read the "Plus the following Accessories..." in the specifications tab.

This review is specifically for DC 23 ANIMAL (obviously), but most part of the review is applicable for all 3 models.

PRO:
- powerful suck thru carpet
- pick up animal hairs (cat) like magic
- multiple intelligent designs that simplify the vacuuming job
- comes with useful tools that can handle most home situations well
- most parts can be cleaned easily with cold water
- no non-durable parts
- long power cable
- not THAT noisy
- good looking
- very helpful customer representative from DYSON

CON:
- takes an unexpectedly large amount of horizontal space to store it away despite the small canister (the way it stands in the product picture is the way it is supposed to be put away)
- it is a dust magnet and can be difficult to clean up due to many small parts and gaps
- may need a longer bit of time than average to fully utilize the machine
- very small trash holding capacity
- short hose length
- very expensive for a vacuum cleaner

Bottom line (my personal opinion):
- It does the job (vacuuming) really well. However, it makes me think that the cheapest model in the DC23 series (Turbohead) may suffice my everyday needs, as there are no big difference between the two on paper.
- I am a techie yet it took me an unexpectedly long time to figure out what are all those many buttons and tools for. I think they may have 'over-engineered' it in certain area.
- It takes a lot of space to store it in my tiny apartment. The Motorhead of the DC23 series that uses less storage space (due to the longer hose) but it is $100 on top of the already expensive $500 pricetag. Luckily, I can improvise and make it takes up less space but detaching certain parts - but it also increases the 'setup' time needed for each use.
- It's a keep.

I've had this vacuum for a few months now, and overall I'm very pleased with it. It takes a little getting used to, but is very powerful and runs quietly. 5 Gallon Vacuum Chamber to Degass Urethanes, Silicones, Epoxies and Burlwood Review

As a Doll Artist, I wanted to take my art to the next level using silicone. I've tried the "hand tapping" method but for me it was not very effective. So, I started to research vacuum chambers (that came along with the pump, because I didn't know what I was doing and wanted a complete set with attachments and all). Vacuum Chambers and pumps can get pretty expensive....which (again) is a problem since I really didn't know what I was doing at first. Since there aren't many reviews (which is why I am writing one), I blindly chose "best Value Vac" and purchased a 5 gallon vacuum chamber with a 5cfm pump (my pump is a CPS brand). I was cautious at first because the website did not have an address or phone number, but when I emailed the company.... the owner emailed me back and we communicated multiple times in helping me to make the right selection for me. I paid via pay pal and my products arrived perfectly in the time he suggested they would. The chamber and the pump are shipped separately, and they are packaged carefully. I've used my chamber and pump multiple times now and I love it!
My gauge does go past 30 HG when I'm using it...but I don't know if that's me or the equipment. What I do know...is that it pulls air out of the silicone beautifully and I'm happy with that:-) BTW....just general caste info, if you're using silicone and need ALL of the air pulled out of your finished piece (especially for fine details like ears or chins), pick a chamber size that you can fit your entire mold inside of it for a second vacuum pull (the first pull was just the material in its container).....it makes a huge difference!
AND Don't Forget to put a bucket inside of your chamber to protect the inside from accidental spill overs:-)

We own a B&B made of vintage railroad cabooses in Northern California's wine country and we now own four of these units. Being cabooses, the rooms are about 450 square feet with this unit in the center of one wall keeping the room cool or hot depending on the season.

The nice thing about this unit is that it's inexpensive, installs in moments and just does the job. Our guests don't need to be rocket scientists to operate the included remote control and the unit can cope with summers where the outside temperature reaches 110� and winters where the nights can be in the low teens. The grapes love this weather, but people aren't as thrilled.

The air conditioning mode is the best of all on this unit. There are two fan speeds and you simply select the temperature you desire and the unit does a very effective job of keeping the room very comfortable. When the temperature is reached the unit shuts off as you might expect and comes on again when it's time for another dose of nice, cold air.

The heating function is slightly different. You still set the temperature and all, but the fan never shuts off. This means that as the unit blows increasingly cold air until the compressor kicks in again and heats up the incoming air. This is strange - I don't know why the fan never shuts off in heat mode but it doesn't, and this is true of all of these units.

I also had one unit arrive slightly damaged but I was able to fix the problem.

If your room is under about 500 square feet this is a nice, efficient way of keeping it comfortable. I've had one of these units for up to three years with no issues. Considering that some of our rooms use ductless/mini split type systems with infinitely complicated remote controls this is such a refreshing change. The reason I didn't rate the unit five stars is because of the heater fan never shutting off, otherwise these units are great.
