Sharp Medium Duty Commercial Microwave - 1000 Watt Review

I don't own this unit but use it at a hospital where it serves in the break room of a department of around 50 people. As such it gets alot of use and isn't well taken care of. Still it seems to perform without any issues for over the two plus years it has been here. It is solid and probably weighing 50+ lbs. I particularly like the turn knob which enables dialing in the desired cook time quickly and without fuss. Despite not having a turntable it seems to heat quite evenly. The absence of all those other seldom used features - timer, power level setting, one touch buttons, etc. - I see as a positive.

There is another one of these units in the hospital cafeteria where it is subjected to the general public abuse of countless patient visitors and hospital staff who don't give a damn about another's property. It has been rock solid reliable for over 3 years. At least in a commercial restaurant, the employees are trained and motivated by the owner not to abuse the equipment. Three years in a hospital is easily the equivalent of ten years anywhere else.

The manufacturing label on the two units indicate they are made in Thailand, not China.

Update 2/10/13 - Finally bought one for home use. Very pleased. Only issue is that dial markers can be hard to see when selecting cooking time. There isn't a cooking time display above dial as shown in the Amazon product picture.

Update 9/6/13 - All units hospital and mine still operating without any issues.

Electrolux was a vacuum cleaner that many eons ago was sold only door to door by specialty salespeople. I have owned a Electrolux canister for more than half a century and am thrilled with this new bagless canister. It has a 26 foot electric cord so many areas can be reached without plugging and unplugging. It is quiet, has big wheels so that it rolls perfectly and numerous attachments for every type of floor or upholstered furniture (including a special pet hair removal attachment. I have three cats and it has done a remarkable job of cleaning pesky cat hairs off my furniture, the cats' climbing condo, as well as my bare wood and tile floors. The crevice tool is very useful for getting into corners. The vacuum weights just a bit more than 8-lbs. so it is easy to move from floor to floor. The baggless canister was very easy to open and the cord rewinds itself at the push of a button. I prefer canister vacuums and highly recommend this model.

Nutone 9093WH Deluxe Heat-A-Ventlite 70 CFM 1500-Watt Heater with Ventilator and Incandescent Ceiling Light, White Review

This unit comes with its own wall switch: two rocker switches that control all four elements (light, night light, heater, and vent). Not needing the night light feature, at all, I decided to buy a separate Nutone switch Broan-Nutone P66W Fan Control Switch. The 3 unit switch works just fine.

The unit is heavy enough that it will get a bit tiresome installing it, but it's very sturdy overall. I am noticing some rattling issues, but it may not be level (there were three of us working on this, and I haven't had a chance to "check their work" yet...). Loosening the grille seems to silence the rattling somewhat.

We may just need to look things over again, but this fan doesn't pass the toilet paper test, at all. Holding a long, loose piece of tissue ON the fan doesn't even move the paper one iota. We may have something blocking the damper, but honestly, if we do everything we know to and there is still no suction? Those three stars are dropping to one. [09/16/11: We discovered that for whatever reason, using 2-ply toilet paper for your test yields the aforementioned results. 1-ply works just fine. hehe!]

The "heater" reminds me of a pellet stove in that it blows a lot of cold air around before the unit warms up; and even after warming up, the air still felt chilly because of the force of the fan (why can't the vent be this powerful and the heater be as calm as the vent??).

The particular model for sale on Amazon only comes with a white grille, but if you search the web for Nutone 9093CH you can find some sites offering the unit in chrome (likewise, there is a brass grille available as well. And the same site will sell you a grille only in the style of your choosing. Handy info to have if you're looking for this unit in something other than white.
