I am very straightforward so take what I say without ambivalence... I mean what I say.

The unit.

It is bigger than I expected - heavier too. It requires that you keep it roughly 4 feet above the floor - just something to think about - o3 (ozone) is heavier than air and will sink - So I like to add an additional fan to help move it around. The unit worked RIGHT out of the box - just throw in the separate ozone plate and the other 3 filters and you are good to go. Additionally, it requires a 3 prong outlet for proper voltage. The unit comes with an EXTRA hepa filter (but they are washable) so why they did that.. I have no idea. The instruction manual is pretty bare bones. No joke when I say - READ THE D*mn thing! Even though most people are tech savvy - this is something you want to read on.. it is your health.

The Ozone Feature.

This is the reason why most people are buying this machine. It works. On the lowest setting you will immediately smell the ozone coming from the machine. Now... if you can SMELL the ozone - the setting is TOO HIGH. Ozone is very irritating to the respiratory system and you may cough or have dry throat or nostrils from this device. THIS IS NOT THE DEVICES FAULT. You should use the OZONE feature when you are NOT in the house (pets included) - or keep on in separate rooms that are secluded during use. Set the timer so that it shuts off about 1.5 hours before you get home. The O3 takes about an hour for half of it to reduce to O2 (oxygen). Read about the effects of Ozone - it isnt bad - but needs to be moderated just like anything else. My apt is about 1200 sq. ft. I use the ozone on the lowest setting and the place smells neutral when I get home. Once again... it bears repeating... if you come home and it smells like an OZONE rain forest - you need to have it shut off earlier or use LESS ozone. Ozone is NOT an air freshener - it is an oxidizer (think of "air-borne bleach")and should be treated as such. When you turn the ozone (purify) setting ON - the machine gets a little noisier. Nothing that would wake you up - but you can certainly tell that it is on. Based on the reviews - I am not the only one to notice this. This is something that is good to know and if someone wants to verify this with a comment that would be helpful.

The Fan

It is quiet. Very quiet. Why is it so quiet? Because it really isn't filtering a whole lot of air. If you are looking for a giant machine to go through VOLUMES of air.. this is the wrong device - like I said previously - people who buy this - buy it for the ozone capability. It has several settings for time and options. Some options include UV Lamps to kill bacteria ( mine does not illuminate as much as I thought it would so I am a bit hesitant to say that it is doing anything. It also has an Ion filter to filter negative ions. I can't really comment on how effective these are because I have no reliable way of measuring. I would imagine it works normally for the amount of air that it can filter.

The Price

Can't be beat. I am always hesitant to order things that have a giant MADE IN CHINA symbol but this is truly an exception. Given that the price of this EXACT model has risen 2x's in 2 years says that demand is going up. Incidentally - if you are thinking about getting this - aside from price- the Government is starting to limit machines that can produce a certain amount of OZONE... which generally speaking is good because it is for your health - but if you have killer smells you want to get rid of - high ozone settings will be very beneficial. I hate the government telling me what to do anyway.

Bottom Line.

Great machine. Big and heavy. Easy to Assemble (2 minutes). Excellent Ozone levels with moderate distribution. Moderate air filter. Low power consumption. Basic User Manual. Timer setting decent (has no memory if power goes out). Priced to sell. Use responsibly.
