I am SO glad I got this. This is an ALL METAL grinder attachment that fits any KitchenAid stand mixer. It is easy to clean, comes with two dies (medium and fine) The internal auger is aluminum - the blade is steel and the dies are steel, the attachement ring is steel and the feeder assembly and tray are steel. The plunger is sturdy plastic.

This will not crack and it does not leave gunk or shavings in your meat. You will not be disappointed. Easy to disassemble and clean - make sure you follow the manufacturer's instructions of washing, drying and then putting a light coat of canola or olive oil on the internal parts before storing.

I love this thing.

EDIT: 18 months later: STILL LOVING THIS THING. Here's some tips I've learned: Make sure you chill your grinder and bowl in the freezer for at least an hour - keep the grinder and the bowl and the dies COLD - Make sure your meat is cold as well... not frozen, but cold (15m freezer). After 18 months it's still in great condition, make sure you hand wash it right after you are done and coat it with a little vegetable oil (inside and out) before you store it away. Enjoy!
