Like others that have reviewed this product, I too have mixed reviews. The Good: It bar none has the best suction of any vacuum I've ever used. No joke, I could not believe what it was picking up off my area rugs and carpets-I was impressed and a little grossed out...Lol! I bought it because it was recommended for hard wood floors and pet hair, of which I have plenty of with four pets, two cats and two huge Newfoundland dogs who can generate enough hair to create a whole other cat. It does not lose suction as advertised and is the easiest vacuum to handle that I've ever used, it glides effortlessly behind you and is lightweight. Its compact size and low profile makes it pretty easy to store too. The retractable cord is long and works perfectly every time and the canister is pretty simple to empty. The adjustable extenders are great, it comes apart in all combinations and can be adapted for whatever job or area your needing to vacuum whether high up or very low, tight spaces. The head turns in every direction, so getting along baseboards and corners is a breeze. The attachments are excellent, so cat hair off kitty's favorite spot on the couch comes up easily. But the attachments are expensive and as another reviewer wrote there's no place on the unit to store them which is a nuisance, I have to agree. The hard floor attachment is a must and I'm very happy with it for picking up pet hair.

Some reviewers complained about having to empty the canister often, but for me it means it really is sucking up the dirt and I'm really not troubled by that. It has not jammed on me as other reviewers wrote, but small children's toy debris and breakfast cereal would jam up any home vacuum in my humble opinion and is not what the product is designed for. Only the bedrooms are carpeted in my home, and that's where this vacuum starts to falter badly for it's price.

The Bad: I would NOT suggest this Dyson unit for anyone with a lot or even a modicum of wall to wall carpeting as I do. The roller brush is smaller and narrower than most, so although it doesn't jam or get clogged the way most others do, and flows easily from different surfaces, it doesn't really dig into the carpet the way uprights do and that "fluffed" just vacuumed appearance will not be there. The suction is awesome, it's clearly getting small dust and dander very efficiently from the carpet, but you often have to roll over an area to pick up larger dirt/lint more often than I think you should have to with a vacuum of this price.

So if your home is all tile or wood floor and you have very, very little or no wall to wall carpeting, then this is a great product that largely does exactly what it claims. I read the reviews, weighed out the pros for the wood floors/pet hair and the cons...so I had modest expectations for this vacuum given the few carpeted areas in my home and that my dogs are not permitted in the those areas, and for me it didn't cut it. Instead I'm left feeling like I now need a Dyson upright for the carpeted areas. So given the investment, it only gets 3 stars from me.
