I purchased this humidifier 4 weeks ago. I run it 24 hours a day. I go through a gallon of water in 1.5 - 2 days. Sometimes I run it on high and sometimes on low, thus the water consumption varies. I keep it on the floor right next to my bed. The sound does not bother me - although I will write that when I set it on high I have to raise the volume on my TV. I use only distilled water for the humidifier. I have nothing but good things to write about this humidifier. It is the best humidifier I have ever owned. It does not deposit any water at all on the floor or the surrounding area. It is supposed to cover an area of 600 square feet. My condo is 1000 square feet and every single window reflects humidity, so I know it humidifies the entire 1000 square feet. I run it day and night to assist with a respiratory issue and it has helped me tremendously. It has filters that are affordable.

GV 8 Qt Light Powerful BackPack Vacuum Loaded Review

Overall this is a really impressive vacuum cleaner, especially for the price. I wanted a canister type vacuum because my house has a mix of hardwood, tile, rugs and carpet so uprights just don't have the flexibility. But regular canister vacs drive me nuts their little wheels are always jamming or getting caught on the edge of a rug etc... I was pretty much sold on the idea of a backpack vacuum as soon as I saw them on Amazon. This one is pretty much everything I was wanting.

Now this vac is basically a commercial unit rejigged for home use and is missing some of the features you'd expect like a retractable cord, a motorized head etc... but makes up for it with an enormous amount of vacuum power, low noise and an extremely light package.

Good:

* Very light

* Very quiet, much quieter than the Kenmore canister I had prior to this.

* Telescoping steel tube

* The air powered power brush for carpets works well on low pile carpets.

* The main floor attachment head is fantastic

* Having the motor and exhaust up off the ground keeps the vacuum from blowing around cat hair tumbleweeds while you're trying to clean them up.

* Ambidextrous

* Solid, simple latches and cover for bag changing etc... no flimsy but pretty hinged covers.

* Very powerful

* Comfortable to wear while working, comes with waist strap to take weight off of shoulders/back.

The less good:

* Attachments are just friction fit onto the tube, could be an issue years down the road.

* The pneumatic power head doesn't work quite as well as electrically driven ones

* Built in power cord is only two feet long - be sure to order a 13 amp or better extension cord too, 25ft works well for me.

* Impossible to not look like a huge dork when using it ;-)

The good points well outweigh the bad and it's currently offered a very good price, definitely worth the cost.

I am SO glad I got this. This is an ALL METAL grinder attachment that fits any KitchenAid stand mixer. It is easy to clean, comes with two dies (medium and fine) The internal auger is aluminum - the blade is steel and the dies are steel, the attachement ring is steel and the feeder assembly and tray are steel. The plunger is sturdy plastic.

This will not crack and it does not leave gunk or shavings in your meat. You will not be disappointed. Easy to disassemble and clean - make sure you follow the manufacturer's instructions of washing, drying and then putting a light coat of canola or olive oil on the internal parts before storing.

I love this thing.

EDIT: 18 months later: STILL LOVING THIS THING. Here's some tips I've learned: Make sure you chill your grinder and bowl in the freezer for at least an hour - keep the grinder and the bowl and the dies COLD - Make sure your meat is cold as well... not frozen, but cold (15m freezer). After 18 months it's still in great condition, make sure you hand wash it right after you are done and coat it with a little vegetable oil (inside and out) before you store it away. Enjoy!

iRobot Roomba 790 Vacuum Cleaning Robot Review

This is my 5th roomba in 10 years.
Long story short: Irobot used to provide great value and honest products. Now, they raised the prices a lot (75%) and are playing the inkjet game of expensive replaceable parts (very small expensive filters).

This review is for the 780 which is identical to the 790, except for the lack of RF remote.

The 780 honestly seems similar to my 562 and 580, although tests say it's supposed to pick up dirt better than them. It looks a bit more fancy but actually comes with a smaller dirt bin and filters you cannot self-clean/wash anymore.
It still has weak suction and fails to pick up anything between my kitchen tiles, but it works well on carpet and hardwood floor.
Functionality honestly looks much like my 580 (actually, the remote is not RF, and Irobot cheapened out and removed the extra dirt bin, _while_ raising the price by 50% ($400 to $600). The 790 adds the RF remote back for an extra $100 (and an extra virtual wall), or 75% more, and still does not include the bigger dust bin included with some models like the 562.
But the part that made me the least happy is their very small HEPA filters that are expensive to replace and that you are forced to use. I curse the marketing person who added this "feature" that forces you to give more and more money to irobot after already having paid 50% more for a robot that comes with less than the 580 used to. Paying for those expensive filters might make sense if you need them, but really blows if you're forced to buy them and don't need them.
It probably cleans a bit better, but I'd recommend finding a much cheaper 5xx series or consider a Neato XV-21 which has real suction and room mapping (that one is however louder).
If you get stuck with a 700 series roomba this, I recommend buying filters from china via aliexpress .com ($1.80 a piece in packs of 10, try item 752706220).
