The fryer does not get higher than 340F. Bought one off Amazon, returned it to Breville, they sent me another one, same thing. Won't heat higher than 340F. I tested both models with an oil thermometer. I only bought the thermometer to confirm my hunch. I was a short order cook in a diner for 10 years AND I KNOW when something in not prepared correctly. You need a high temp near 375F to cook french fries or pastries (like doughnuts), or else they come out soggy retaining a lot of oil. When I brought this up to Breville they questioned the accuracy of my thermometer. When I asked for a refund they told me to take it up with Amazon, nice! My back and forth correspondence and returns put me over the 30 day return policy Amazon has so luckily the seller was understanding and took back the fryer. Very disappointed with Breville. BY THE WAY I notice that a lot of one star reviews about this product are removed from retail sites such as William Sonoma, Amazon, et al. I only found the poor reviews on mobile application Amazon site. Something doesn't seem right.
